يعد هذا البحث عن الإمام الحسن- عليه السلام-، وما أدراك ما الإمام الحسن هذا الطود العظيم سليل الدوحة المحمدية الحسن الذي أمن به البعض وبجله أخرون وعطوه حق قدره من الرفعة والمكانة والكرامة وزلت أقدام البعض من رفعته ومكانته لتكون عرجاء- ويقدم هذا البحث عن إمام الحسن مع العلم مدى وعورة الطريق وتصارع الآراء لكن علينا أن نبين ما هي الجوانب وإشراقات من الفكر الثاقب والسيرة الجهادية للإمام الحسن- عليه السلام. والأدوار التي قام بها أهل البيت- عليهم السلام- رغم اختلافها الظاهري- إلا أنها في الحقيقة وحدة متكاملة ومنهجية متشابهة؛ حيث كل عنصر فيها اعتبر مكمل لدور العنصر الأخر. وبالتالي هي سلسلة واحدة متصلة تعمل على تحقيق هدف واحد، ألا وهو إقامة حكومة العدل الإلهي على يدي الإمام الحجة المنتظر المهدي (عجل الله تعالى فرجه الشريف) في آخر الزمان. فاختلاف الأزمان والأدوار في السيرة الجهادية العطرة لأهل البيت- عليهم السلام، لا يعني- على سبيل المثال- أن الإمام الحسين عليه السلام رجل ثورة وقتال فقط، بينما الإمام الحسن عليه السلام رجل مهادنة وسلم، بل الواقع غير ذلك، فالسيرة الحسنية الجهادية غلب عليها طابع الصلح مع العدو لأسباب وظروف حتمت ذلك، بينما السيرة الحسينية غلب عليها طابع الثورة والجهاد لأسباب وظروف أخرى مختلفة.
