|a شرع الله الجهاد لإعلاء كلمته ونشر دينه, وقد فهم المسلمون الأوائل هذا المقصد الشرعي من الجهاد, فلم يكن جهادُهم لتحقيق أهداف شخصية, أو أطماع دنيوية, أو حبًا للمُلك أو الرياسة, بل كان جهادهم لإعلاء الحق, وجعْل كلمة الله هي العليا، ومن إعلاء كلمة الله تحكيم شرعه, وتعبيد الناس لرب العالمين, وإعمار الأرض بما يرضيه سبحانه، وإرهاب أعداء الله، وزرع المهابة في قلوبهم, وهذا كله يختلف عن العدوان على الآخرين, فحقيقة كل منهما مغايرة للآخر, ولذا كان هذا البحث الذي يجلي الفروق بينهما.
