المستخلص: يعد مفهوم تاريخ الأدب مفهوما إشكاليا؛ إذ يثير هذا المفهوم بالرغم من كونه مفهوما حديثا نسبيا في الدراسات الأدبية-لا عند العرب وحسب، بل عند الغربيين كذلك-إشكالات عدة بسبب تسميته، أو موضوعه، أو مناهجه. وقد مر هذا المفهوم في رحلته المعرفية بمراحل من التطور، وبتحولات مفاهيمية كشفت عن مستويات مختلفة من التصور، والعمل، والاختلاف في تسميته الاصطلاحية، تقوم كلها على فهم لعلاقة التاريخ بالأدب يكون كل واحد منهما بموجبها مكونا جوهريا من مكونات الآخر. وبهذا أصبح لتاريخ الأدب بمركبه الإضافي، وللتاريخ الأدبي بمركبه النعتي دلالة تختلف في كثير من وجوهها عن دلالة الآخر. وكان ذلك كله قبل أن تتلقاه الثقافة العربية.
يهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن حدود الوعي بهذا المفهوم وتحولاته في تركيبه الإضافي (تاريخ الأدب)، وفي تركيبه النعتي (التاريخ الأدبي) في مدونة مؤرخي الأدب العربي، وبيان الكيفية التي انتقل بها إلى الثقافة العربية، وتلقي مؤرخي الأدب العربي له، وإدخالهم إياه في نسق التداول العلمي العربي، ومحاولة بيان مدى وعي أولئك به، وفق الرؤية العربية. ويهتم البحث كذلك بأثر انعكاس ذلك الوعي على المناهج التي أرخ بها للأدب العربي انطلاقا من الكشف عن محدداته، وبيان دلالته المفاهيمية في بيئته الأولى. وهو الأمر الذي يدعو إلى تتبع أصل هذا المفهوم عند الغربيين، وعند المستشرقين الذين أرخوا للأدب العربي، ومحاولة الكشف عن فهمهم له، ثم تتبعه في مدونة مؤرخي الأدب العربي-وهي مدونة ثرية واسعة متنوعة شهد العقد الأول من القرن العشرين كما كبيرا منها. يضاف إلى ذلك كله تعرف كيفية اتصال العرب بالمفهوم، وزمن تعرفهم عليه، وقنوات انتقاله إلى الأدب العربي والفضاءات التي ظهر فيها، والصورة التي وصل بها. وختاما، ما إن كانوا قد عملوا بتلك الصورة أم رفضوها أم حوروها إلى صورة أخرى: حسنة أو مشوهة.

The concept of the history of literature is problematic; although it is relatively recent in literary studies -not only among the Arabs, but also among the Westerners,- it raises many problems because of its name, subject, or curricula. In its cognitive journey, this concept has undergone stages of development and conceptual transformations that have revealed different levels of perception, action, and the difference in its terminological name. They are all based on an understanding of the relationship between history and literature, according to which each is a fundamental component of the other. Thus, the history of literature, with its genitive construction, and the literary history of its adjectival construction, has a significant difference in many aspects from that of the other. This was all before the Arabic culture received it.
This research aims to reveal the limits of awareness of this concept and its transformations in its genitive construction (the history of literature), and in its adjectival construction (literary history) in the record of Historians of Arabic Literature, and to explain how it moved to Arabic culture, and how historians of the Arabic literature received it and introduced it into the scientific process of Arabic, and to try to show the extent of their awareness of it, in accordance with the Arabic vision. The research also focuses on the impact of this awareness on the approaches it has adopted for Arabic literature by revealing its determinants and explaining its conceptual significance in its early environment. This is something that calls for tracking the origin of this concept among the Westerners and the Orientalists who have written the history of Arabic literature and trying to reveal their understanding of it, and then following it in the records of the historians of the Arabic Literature. It is a rich, vast, and diverse record that the first decade of the twentieth century has seen a big quantity of it. In addition to all this, to know how the Arabs relate to the concept, when they know it, the channels of its transition to Arabic literature, the spaces in which it appeared, and the image in which it arrived. Finally, whether they have accepted that image, or rejected it, or converted it into another image: good or distorted.
