This study dealt with the theme of the self-esteem and respect according to John Rawls, and showed that the basis of self- respect in a fair society is the publicly certain distribution of fundamental rights and freedoms; and that the self-esteem for Rawls is the most valuable in social initial good works, because it is a feature that is characterized by centralization and fundamentality at human beings. The study was divided into three sections; a preliminary section that addresses the relationship between the concept of self-respect and appreciation, through three demands: self-concept and characteristics, self-appreciation, and the types of self- appreciation (high self- appreciation, and low self- high). In the first section, the study demonstrated the value of the person for John Rawls; as well as the person's value for Immanuel Kant. The second section titled: self-respect for John Rawls that was addressed through three sections. In the first section, the nature of self-respect for John Rawls was addressed. The second section showed the basics of self-respect for Rawls and contribution in determining the principles governing the infra-structure of society.
تناولت الدراسة موضوع الذات بين التقدير والاحترام عند جون رولز، وبينت أن أساس احترام الذات في المجتمع العادل هو التوزيع المؤكد علناً للحقوق الأساسية والحريات، وأن احترام الذات عند رولز هو الأكثر قيمة في الخيرات الأولية الاجتماعية وذلك لأنها سمة تتميز بالمركزية والأساسية في الكائنات البشرية. وقد قسمت الدراسة إلى ثلاث مباحث، مبحث تمهيدي تناول العلاقة بين مفهوم وتقدير الذات، وذلك من خلال ثلاث مطالب مفهوم الذات وخصائصها، وتقدير الذات، وأنواع تقدير الذات (تقدير الذات المرتفع، وتقدير الذات المنخفض)، وفي المبحث الأول تناولت الدراسة بيان قيمة الشخص عند جون رولز. والمبحث الثاني بعنوان احترام الذات عند جون رولز، وقد تناولته من خلال مطلبين، ففي المطلب الأول تناولت طبيعة احترام الذات عند رولز، وفي المطلب الثاني بينت أسس احترام الذات عند رولز والمساهمة في تحديد المبادئ التي تنظم البنية الأساسية للمجتمع.
