نظرا لأهمية الكتابة والخط العربي عند المرأة في تدعيم الحضارة العربية الإسلامية، جاءت هذه الدراسة كجزء من محاولة لتسليط الضوء على دور المرأة وهي تتدرج بين تعلم الكتابة ومن ثم الترقي في الإبداع إلى التشكيل الجمالي في براعة نادرة لفن الخط العربي. الذي امتاز عن سائره من الفنون بترقيه درجة عالية، كساها الذوق النسائي العربي حدسا، وطابعا شرقيا. وقد اقتضت طبيعة هذه الدراسة الموجزة والمفيدة تقسيمها إلى مقدمة، وثلاثة مباحث. حيث تم في المبحث الأول توضيح معني وفضيلة الكتابة والخط العربي وتطورهما التاريخي، وقد خصص لمناقشة عدة نقاط هي تعريف الكتابة، ومن ثم التعرف على عمومية الكتابة، ثم تعريف الخط، وأيضا الحديث عن فضيلة الكتابة والخط العربي، إضافة إلى رحلة الخط العربي في مواكبة العصور الإسلامية. وأما المبحث الثاني فقد تناول الكتابة وفن الخط عند المرأة، وقد تضمن نقطتين هما، المرآة وحق العلم والكتابة، ثم الأقوال البليغة في محاسن الخط العربي عند المرأة. في حين شمل المبحث الثالث التعريف بأهم رائدات الكتابة والخط العربي وقد جاء ترتيبهم بحسب تاريخ الوفاة وطبيعة العصر التاريخي الذي قضت الكاتبة أو الخطاطة حياتها فيه. وقد تلا ذلك خاتمة تضمنت أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها واحة المبدعات في الكتابة والخط العربي. إن وفرة المعلومات التي تناولتها المصادر والمراجع الباحثة في مناقشة الكتابة والخط العربي عند المرأة كانت قليلة باستثناء بعض الدراسات التي ركزت فقط على أسمائهن. وهذا يجعل من الصعوبة محاولة تقديم وصف شامل لهن جميعا نظرا لأن الخط العربي باب واسع وبحر عميق وعريض نظرا لامتداد الاتساع في العصور الإسلامية، حيث أن لكل عصر خصوصيته، وعالمه الخاص، الذي ينفرد به عن غيره من العصور.
