This research argues that the role of NGOs in poverty alleviation, has begun to change the world view of non-governmental organizations, as these organizations are more dynamic and flexible than government agencies to reach to many Poor groups, that can not be reached by the Government. This research aims to highlight the growing and expected economic role of NGOs , and the extent of their contribution to the alleviation of poverty. Then it aims to identify and assess the compensatory programmes provided by non-governmental organizations (case of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh), which contributed to the alleviation of poverty. Finally this research tries to stimulate non-governmental organizations in Egypt, and other developing countries having economic conditions like those of Bangladesh, to benefit from the model of Grameen bank in the alleviation of poverty, taking into account The likely differences, in terms of socio-economic, political , cultural, and Institutional environment.
