|b Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems facing the Egyptian economy in general and the economic development process in particular. As Environment pollution is one of the most complicated problems , it becomes necessary to study such problem to know its causes and to present the most suitable policies to solve it in order to avoid its serious socio - economic consequences . The study aimed to explore and to determine the investment expenditure on environment protection and its role in achieving sustainable development in the Egyptian economy. Investment expenditure on environment protection, is one of the major factors affecting socio- economic development. This study contains three chapters in addition to the introduction , objectives , hypothesis, conclusion and recommendations . Chapter one deals with the state of world environment . it induces environment concepts, the relationship between development and environment and the factors affecting that environment . This chapter handles also the environment expenditure woldwide . Chapter two investigates the different features of environment unbalance facing sustainable development in the Egyptian economy . It concentrates on causes of pollution in Egypt, and studies the major projects of environment protection and its socio-economic returns in Egypt. Chapter three analyses investment expenditure on the various economic sectors of the Egyptian economy including Agriculture, Electrivity, Petroleum, Transportation... etc, Also, it studies the investment expenditure of different government sectors in the Egyptian economy.
