كانت مدينة النجف الأشرف من المدن العراقية الأولى التي بدأ معها طور جديد من التجديد والإصلاح، فقد دخلتها الصحافة في وقت مبكر مقارنة مع المدن العراقية الأخرى، مما شجع دخول المطابع إليها، فأدى ذلك إلى ظهور صحافتها خلال العقود الأولى من القرن العشرين. وقد استند موضوع هذا البحث ((نشأة الصحافة النجفية من سنة 1909-1912 م)) إلى جملة من الاستنتاجات أهمها: شهدت الصحافة النجفية ازدهارا ملحوظا يتناسب ومكانة المدينة، الدينية والعلمية والأدبية، إذ ظهرت فيها اتجاهات فكرية وثقافية، فضلا عن جيل من رواد الصحافة والأدب، لتصبح نتاجاتهم ميدانا واسعا للدراسات التاريخية التي لا يمكن الاستغناء عنها احتلت الصحافة النجفية مكانة مرموقة في تاريخ الحياة الفكرية، لا في العراق فحسب، بل في دول عربية وإسلامية مجاورة. يبدو مما تقدم أن الصحف النجفية منذ بداية القرن العشرين تناولت مختلف الموضوعات من خلال مقالاتها التي نشرها كتابها على صفحاتها بهدف دعم الحركة الفكرية الإصلاحية التي شهدتها مدينة النجف الأشرف في ذلك القرن، لقد أولت صحافة (النجف) الأدب وفنونه اهتماما واضحا من خلال ما كانت تنشره لعدد من قضايا الأدب والشعر في مختلف العصور، هذا إلى جانب نقدها لبعض القضايا الأدبية المعاصرة.
