المستخلص: The study aims to present the relationship that exists between exports and foreign direct investment especially, in Egypt’s industrial sector. The study exhibits such applied policies that can easily serve in increasing foreign direct investment in Egypt’s industrial exports. Those aims were tested by using the following hypothesis” Could foreign direct investment through its relationship with global networks for distribution and marketing, help in increasing Egypt’s industrial exports?”
Export supply function has been estimated using an econometric quantitative method “Panel Analysis”, where the real value of industrial exports is the dependent variable. While the explanatory variables are considered as follows; the real value of foreign direct industrial investment, ratio between local and export prices, real investment values in infrastructure, rate of real wages in industrial sector, and effective exchange rate.
The model showed the inverse relationship between foreign direct investment and industrial exports. These results could be expected especially, under the biasness of foreign direct investment towards severe local market.
This study ends at suggesting such policies to activate the positive relationship between exports and foeign direct investment, as follows :
1) Dvelopping effecctive cooperations with different multinational companies especially, which are using their export experiences.
2) Integrarting with international production systems and international value chains
3) Targeting foreign direct investment, which is specialized in exports
