المستخلص: The usage of WhatsApp Group application is one of the increasingly popular communicative media in this technology era. This study aims to review the use of the language in WhatsApp Group among students of Bachelor of Education (Primary School Malay Language Teaching) in Asia e University. The corpus consisted of WhatsApp Group authentic text collected from a total of 40 students PBMSR September 2013 intake, groups majoring in Bahasa Melayu (BM). The aspect which is the focus in the study is the use of words and general characteristics of linguistic in the WhatsApp Group chosen. The study found that the most popular form of words in the WhatsApp Group text is the abbreviated forms and mixing languages. The short term is translated into various forms in several different processes. Some of the examples are dropping vowels or consonants, vowels and consonants abortion, abortion syllables, the use of homophones letters, numbers or symbols to replace a word and use of the first letter. The study also showed that there was a use of dialect in WhatsApp Group interaction between the students. The findings also identified that there is a significant use of linguistic features. The WhatsApp Group users preferred message content in a form of communication, which lead to the existence of “new” language with the involvement of pragmatic elements.
