يهدف هذا البحث إلى بيان حقيقة المواقف السياسية والعسكرية للدولة الفرنسية من الصراع العربي اليهودي في الفترة من عام 1939 مع بداية الحرب العالمية الأولي إلى سنة 1973 م الموافقة للحرب العربية الإسرائيلية المعروفة بحرب العبور. والمفارقة التي قد تطرأ على الأذهان أن بريطانيا لا فرنسا هي الدولة الحاضنة الداعمة للكيان الإسرائيلي سرا وعلنا والسؤال المهم هو: ما دور فرنسا في دعم الكيان الإسرائيلي؟ وما دوافعها في ميلان كفة الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي؟ وما أوجه الدعم التي لقيتها إسرائيل من فرنسا؟ وللحقيقة فإن أول وجه للدعم الفرنسي للكيان الإسرائيلي جاء في صورة تأسيس وكالات ومؤسسات يهودية داخل فرنسا مهمتها تجميع شتات اليهود في أوروبا ومساعدتهم على الهجرة نحو فلسطين، ثم أن فرنسا كانت سباقة إلى تسريع وتسهيل هجرة اليهود منها نحو فلسطين بمجرد صدور وعد بلفور 1917 م. وفى طور لاحق تأججت مشاعر الفرنسيين الحاقدة نحو ألمانيا الهتلرية بعد غزوها لفرنسا في الحرب الكونية الثانية الأمر الذى استغله اليهود في التقريب بين مشاعرهم ومشاعر الفرنسين المناوئة لعدو واحد وهو النازية، وبالتالي فلا مناص للفرنسيين من تفهم مشاعر اليهود الحاقدين على النازية وهذا يفضى إلى تفهم وتسريع إقامة دولة لهؤلاء المسحوقين تحت نير النازية. وهذا كله افضى بفرنسا إلى أن تنبري بعد انتهاء الحرب للدفاع الواضح عن اليهود وتمكينهم من استيطان فلسطين، وتوج هذا الاندفاع والانحياز بالعدوان الثلاثي الفرنسي الإسرائيلي البريطاني على مصر سنة 1956 م. وفى طور متزامن ولاحق مكنت فرنسا إسرائيل من الاستفادة من إمكانياتها العسكرية والتقنية الحربية والتزود بالأسلحة المتطورة لتمكنها من زيادة إحكام السيطرة على ما احتلته من ارض عربية. وفى زاوية أخرى عملت الترسانة الإعلامية الفرنسية بكل وسائلها على الدعاية القوية للكيان الإسرائيلي ودفع الرأي العام في فرنسا وفى عموم أوروبا للتعاطف غير المحدود مع هذا الكائن الاستيطاني.
