المستخلص: يعتبر توثيق المراجع والمصادر في البحوث العلمية من الخطوات الأساسية والهامة جدا، فهي تكسب البحث أهمية بالغة، وتعزز من مصداقية البحوث والمعلومات المنشورة فيه، كما تحفظ لكل حقوقه، وبالتالي الرجوع لتلك الكتب والأبحاث، لكي تمكن القارئ من الحصول على مزيد من المعلومات في حال رغب بذلك.
ويعني التوثيق إثبات مصادر المعلومات وإرجاعها إلى أصحابها توخيا للأمانة العلمية، واعترافا بجهد الآخرين وحقوقهم العلمية، ولهذا فإن مدى مصداقية وجدية البحث تقاس أساسا بمقدار عدد وتنوع المصادر والمراجع التي استند إليها الباحث، واستفاد منها بالفعل كما ونوعا، والأهم حداثة وتطور هذه المصادر. وما دامت البحوث العلمية هي مجموعة من معلومات مستقاة من مختلف الوثائق والمصادر والمراجع بالدرجة الأولى، وليست مثل المقالات العلمية والأدبية التي تعبر عن الآراء الشخصية لكاتبيها، فإنه لابد من استخدام قواعد الإسناد وتوثيق الوثائق في الهوامش، طبقا لقواعد وأساليب المنهجية الحديثة.
فيجب على الباحث عندما يقتبس معلومات من وثائق مختلفة أن يضع في نهاية الاقتباس رقما في نهاية الصفحة، ثم يعطي في الهامش كافة المعلومات المتعلقة بهذه الوثائق، مثل: اسم المؤلف، عنوان الوثيقة، بلد ومدينة الطبع والنشر، رقم الطبعة، تاريخها، رقم الصفحة التي توجد فيها المعلومات المقتبسة.
ومما سبق؛ فإنه نظرا لأهمية الموضوع وصعوبته سنحاول أن نتطرق إلى أهم طرق التوثيق والتهميش المعمول بها ولا سميا في البحوث الإنسانية والاجتماعية

Documentation of references and sources in scientific research is one of the most important and essential steps. It makes research very important and enhances the credibility of research and information published in it. It also preserves all its rights, and therefore refers to those books and researches, so that the reader can obtain more information if he wishes to do so.
Documentation means proving the sources of information and returning them to the owners in the interest of scientific honesty and recognizing the efforts and scientific rights of others. Therefore, the extent of the credibility and seriousness of the research is mainly measured by the number and variety of sources and references relied upon by the researcher, and from which he benefited quantitatively and qualitatively and most importantly, the novelty and evolution of these sources. As long as scientific research is a collection of information derived from various documents, sources and references primarily, and not like scientific and literary articles that express the personal opinions of their authors, it is necessary to use the rules of attribution and documentation in the margins, according to the rules and methods of modern methodology.
When quoting information from different documents, the researcher must put at the end of the quote a number at the end of the page. He should then provide in the margin all the information related to these documents, such as the author's name, document title, country and city of publication, edition number, date, page number on which the quoted information is found.
Based on the above and given the importance and complexity of the subject, we will try to address the most important methods of documentation and marginalization in practice, especially in humanitarian and social research.
