|a الفكرة الأساسية لهذا المقال هي ضرورة الكف عن ربط التحديث بالتغريب، وعن الفصل بين العلم والثقافة، وعن الاعتقاد أنه لا يوجد سوي نموذج أحادي للتنمية يكمن مفتاحه في نشر تكنولوجيا يزعم أنها "محايدة" و"كونية". فعلي العكس من ذلك، يدعو مهدي المنجرة البلدان العربية وبلدان الجنوب إلى مقاربة القرن الحادي والعشرين بفلسفة تستند إلى الرؤي ما-بعد الحداثية بشأن فلسفة العلوم، وإلي التجربة الفريدة من نوعها لليابان. وهذا التحذير مصحوب بتحليل صريح ومن دون محاباة لتأخر تأقلم المؤسسات والإجراءات التنظيمية المعاصرة، ولأزمة النظم القيمية والتعلمية، ليأخذ المقال في نهاية المطاف شكل مرافعة لا هوادة فيها لمصلحة إعادة انبعاث الثقافة وانصهارها مع العلم، معتبرا ذلك مفتاح البقاء على قيد الحياة في القرن الحادي والعشرين.

|b This paper contends that the linking of modernization with westernization should cease. Not only would this put an end to the problematic divide between science and culture, but it would also halt the damaging belief that there is only one model for development whose key lies in a spread of technology that claims to be "neutral" and "universal." On the contrary, this paper calls upon Arab countries and the countries of the Global South to approach the twenty-first century with a philosophy based on a postmodern vision of the philosophy of science, taking as a model the singular experience of Japan. The paper also presents a frank and unbiased analysis of the delayed adaptation of institutions and contemporary organizational procedures to contemporary realities, as well as the crisis in value and educational systems. The paper ultimately takes the form of an unrelenting argument for the renaissance of culture and its fusion with science, on the view that this is key to survival in the twenty-first century.
