This study attempts to analyze the impact of oil price fluctuations on the unemployment rate in the context of Algerian economy in the short term as well as in the long term. During the period 1970-2016, taking into account the specific characteristics of Algerian economy and the role played by oil prices in defining and shaping the political and economic policy on the other hand. Therefore, the study has been divided into three main parts, in addition to the introduction and conclusion. The first part includes the theoretical frame that highlights the historical evolution of oil price fluctuations and their determining factors, with a presentation of the main previous studies that have dealt with relationship between variables. The second part includes a definition of unemployment and employment in addition to an analysis of the labor market in Algeria regarding labor force, employment and unemployment on the general scale. The third part includes describing variables, data resources, relationships analysis, oil price fluctuations, employment policies and unemployment rates (1970-2015). The results of the analytical study confirmed the existence of synchronous integration in the long term between oil prices and employment and unemployment rate. They have also shown a relationship between the unemployment rate and the oil price in the short term. They have also revealed that the oil price Shocks of OPEC basket have a negative effect on the unemployment rate and the level of employment in Algeria
