Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) investigations were conducted at the Aquila region central plain of Libya. The aim was to determine the electrical resistivity down to a depth of approximately 10m at specified locations before erecting new electrical towers of power generation along 118 km line connecting Al-bisher in the north to Maradah in the south. Field measurements consisted of executing 30 VES prior to the erecting of high electrical power line towers at the specified locations along the mentioned line. Schlumberger array configuration with maximum current electrode spacing 40 m was employed at each electrical tower location. This spacing ensure depth of resolution of approximately 10 m below the earth surface. The ABEM 300 SAS Terrameter electrical resistivity system was used to gather the resistivity field data. Apparent resistivity curves were calculated from the measured field data at each sounding location. The measured data were inverted and the geoelectrical sections were determined for each YES. True resistivities and thicknesses of the subsurface geoelectrical layers were estimated and presented as geoelectrical sections at each sounding location. Adequate electrical impedance of the electrical tower can therefore be calculated according to the minimum ground true resistivity value chosen at each VES.
