المستخلص: Since the first decade of the twentieth century, Africa has occupied a central position in Brazil’s foreign policy, which has emerged through some indicators, including: increased diplomatic representation, and the exchange of visits. At the same time, Brazil participates in United Nations peacekeeping missions on the continent, as well as in development projects and programs in Africa. On this basis, this study aims to examine the motivations and objectives of the Brazilian role in Africa, its tools and mechanisms, and the challenges and obstacles facing it, as well as the future of relations between the two parties. The study concluded that Brazil’s most important motivations and drivers of engagement in Africa were the desire to strengthen its position as an international great power, to assert its national independence, to expand the circle of its economic partners, and to respond to the demands of a large sector within Brazilian society. To achieve its objectives and interests in the African continent, Brazil has adopted a set of tools, the most important of which are: presidential diplomacy, forums diplomacy and alliance building, as well as some traditional instruments, especially economic and military ones. The study found that after more than 15 years of intensive involvement in Africa, The future of Brazilian-African relations is determined by two main variables: the future of Brazilian economic situation and the result of Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2018
