The aim of this study was to examine the Saudi Universities students’ perception of the General Aptitude Test (GAT), developed and administered by the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education of Saudi Arabia. This study investigated the universities students’ attitude toward GAT’ their perception of the information it provides, and their opinion on the degree GAT has helped them in making their decisions more appropriate when applying to university programs, given the fact that those students are the intended population by the GAT. The total sample of universities students used in this study was (1221), representing all Government sponsored universities, and different colleges and specialties from level one to level six. A special measurement tool was developed to collect information. This measurement tool has passed usual scientific validity and reliability checking procedures The results indicated that universities students have good information on the GAT, which make their responses more valid. The results also indicated that universities students’ attitudes toward GAT were positive in general. They saw G AT, as an admission test, able to distinguish among students with different ability levels, and provided information which helped them in making their decisions more appropriate when applying to university programs. Also, the results indicated that their attitudes toward the verbal section of the test were more positive than their attitudes of the quantitative section This study suggested that it is important for the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education, to keep open channels with universities students as the intended population by the GAT, to benefit from their opinions, views, attitudes and suggestions in order to further develop tests in the future. Also, the Center should continually familiarize students, families and society members of any future developments.
