المستخلص: Globularia alypum is widely used in North Africa especially in a Morocco in as a folk medicine treatment of diabetes mellitus, since the its public used was supported by scientific data. Little is known about the pharmacological activity of this medicinal plant. The aim of this study was to investigate the acute toxicity and some other important pharmacological activity of Globularia alypum in Experimental animals. Our result shows that LD50 was 16gm/kg of plant water extract. This indicated that the plant is very safe. This study shows that Globularia alypum has hepatoprotective effect against carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in rats. It has hypotensive effect in experimentally induced hypertensive rat model. It decreases cholesterol low density lipoprotein, high density lipoprotein and triglyceride in rats fed rich diet, decreases the heart rate and increases cardiac contractivity in a dose dependent pattern, decreases the blood glucose level in acutely induced hyperglycemic mice. It enhances the ethanol induced loss of righting reflex in experimental animals. It has analgesic activity and finally showed antineoplastic activity against urethane induced lung carcinoma in mice.
