المستخلص: Minimum wage problem is the center of current debate about economic reform and the necessity for finding the mechanics that achieve fair distribution of development gains. Egypt has tried to solve this problem along many years through temporary procedures and sedatives that has temporary effects. Then the problem reappears on the surface once more. Economic reform in Egypt had focused on macroeconomics policies but wages policies have remained the same without matching that reform till it became an obstacle that threatens that reform. The argument has increased lately about minimum wage issue in Egypt after 25th January revolution which focused on “social Justice”. The wages have developed through two constitutional amendments in Egypt that issued minimum and maximum level. The policies have aimed to determine minimum wage which provide basic needs of food, clothing and for the worker and his family which lead to the state social stability and as a result increase in economic efficiency. There are many elements that affect wage determination which has economic effects on the country like increase in the consumer demand, increase in work opportunities, a decrease in investment demand, and decrease in competitive and demand. There are negative effects to apply minimum wage limit as an increase in unemployment. Establishments had to dismiss some workers after minimum wage limit application because they are not able to afford the new wages.
