المستخلص:	Occupying a strategic place linking the Saharan circuit to the mari¬time network, the city of Gabes was a regional economic hub since the medieval period. Constituted at the end of the XIXe century of two urban complexes (Jara and Menzel), the reorganization of its port in deep waters, gave it a certain prosperity : its urban landscape was transformed.
