|b Thirteen fungal isolates were collected from fruits of different strawberry cultivars at Sharkia Govemorate (Egypt). Botrytis cinerea was the most predominant species. Of the experimented four cultivars (e.g. Camarosa, Chandler, Kelia, and Sweet Charlie ), fruits of Camarosa cultivar exhibited the highest susceptibility to B. cinerea showing the least incidence of total decay percentage at delayed cooling (4 h after inoculation), and prompt cooling (1 h after inoculation), comprising total incidence decay of 66.66% and 40.00% respectively. Conversely, the other experimented cultivar fruits showed higher incidence of decay. The same pattern was observed in the severity test. Prompt cooling is important for minimizing post postharvest decay of strawberries for both inoculated and non-inoculated fruits.
