المستخلص: The most frequently isolated fungi included Macrophominaphaseolina, Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium solani. Nigrospora sp. was the least frequent. All the tested fungi were able to induce variable pre-emergence and post-emergence damping-off symptoms. The highest total infection percentages were produced by R solani and F. solani. All the tested isolates induced pre-emergence damping-off diseases. The highest post¬emergence damping-off percentages was induced by R solani in both cucumber and squash (29.16%). Light microscope observations showed that growth of the antagonistic hyphae on the surface of the host hyphae followed by the formation of extensive hyphal growth twisted around the host hyphae. Short hyphae branches with pointed or swelled ends were observed to form before penetration. FBA's might form haustoria-like structures throughout host invasion. Infection cushion-like structures were also detected, in addition Rhizomorph-like structures were formed. Direct penetration in the host hyphae was noticed. Penetration of host hypha might occur through more than one site.
