المستخلص: The Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) test is the most widely used group IQ test in the Sudan. However, many experts criticize its construction based on the classical theory in psychological measurement. Hence, the present study aimed to investigate the extent to which the items of the SPM test fit into the one-parameter Rasch Model (RM) which is considered the base of the modern theory in measurement. The study also attempted to develop new criteria for the test to explain individuals' ability levels based on their scores on the items that fit into RM. The test was administered to two groups of participants: a calibration group (N = 1200 male and female individuals ranging in age from 6 to 25) and a standardization group (N = 4000). The PASW 18 and RUMM 2020 programs were used in the statistical treatment of data. Eight items were deleted from the SPM test because they did not fit into RM, thus leaving the test with 52 items. The modified version of the test was then subjected to validity and reliability measures. The study also developed new criteria for the test by finding t-scores and deviated IQ percentages matching the various ratings of individuals' ability.
