اعتمد البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وانطلق من القضايا النقدية التي قدم بها الزهاوي ديوانه؛ مستوضحا رأيه فيها، ومستكشفا مدى تمثل ذلك في إبداعه. وقد انتهى إلى أن الشاعر عني بتصوير مظاهر الطبيعة انطلاقا من الفلسفة الجمالية التي ترى الطبيعة رحم الجمال. وأكد على رسالة الشعر السامية التي تنطلق من الصدق، وتتجاوز المتعة إلى الإصلاح. كما أنه حرص على تجديد قوالب الشعر، وتضييق دائرة السرقات الشعرية. بينما بدا متذبذبا -في تنظيره وتطبيقه- في قضية اللفظ والمعنى. أما ما يخص الجمهور، فقد جاءت نظرته سوداوية، وعلاقته سلبية.
This research utilized the critical descriptive method. It set out from the critical issues by which Elzahawi introduced his divan, whereas he illustrated his viewpoint regarding it and explored the extent of representing that in his creativity. He concluded that the poet was concerned with illustrating the phenomena of nature, depending on the esthetical philosophy that conceives nature as the essence of beauty. He confirmed the supreme message of poetry that begins with truth and transcends enjoyment towards reform. He was interested in renewing poetry templates, as well as restricting the circle of poetic thefts. However, he looked fluctuated -theoretically and practically- in the issue of vocabulary and meaning. As for audience, his view was splenetic and his relationship with them was negative.
