المستخلص: هذا البحث يسعى لعرض ملامح تشكيل الحارة عند نجيب محفوظ في روايته ملحمة الحرافيش بوصفها رواية قدمت منجزا استثنائيا في رسم صورة الحارة المصرية بكل ما فيها من إحالات ورموز. وهذا البحث يفترض أن الحارة في هذه الرواية شكلت عاما كلاما ضمن رؤية محفوظ لها، ولذلك فهي تفهم بإسقاطها على العالم المعيش عبر فك رموزها وتحديد إسقاطاتها. وقد شكلها محفوظ عبر تضافر من البناءات والأنسجة، وقد تجلى ذلك في: الحارة حاضنة الملحمة، وتشكيل الحيز المكاني في الرواية، وتشكيل الإنسان في الحارة، وتشكيل الزمن في الحارة، وتشكيل مفردات الخيال في الحارة. وهذه القطاعات هي المكونة لشكل الحارة كما ابتغاها محفوظ، وسعى إليها، ليحملها بكل ما يبغي من رموز وأفكار ورؤى، وهي قطاعات سمحت له بأن يقفز بسهولة في مساحات غير محدودة من الأماكن والأزمان والأحداث وسلوكيات الشخصيات دون قيود الحقيقة والخيال وحدودهما؛ إذ سمح بالانسياح بينهما عبر تحطيمه للحدود بين العوالم الحقيقية والخيالية.

This research paper seeks to explore the features of the portrayal of neighborhood in Naguib Mahfouz’s novel (Malhamat Al-Harafish). No doubt that the novel has brilliantly drawn the image of Egyptian neighborhood with all its indications and symbols. The paper assumes that the ‘quarter’ in this novel forms a whole world within Mahfouz’s vision for the neighborhood and hence it is understood in terms of its position on the real world by the way of decoding its symbols and connotations. Naguib Mahfouz has developed his own vision of the neighborhood through a combination of constructions and textures reflected as: neighborhood as an incubator for the epic, construction of place in the novel, portrayal of man, time and vocabularies of imagination in the alley. These are the components of the features of the alley imagined by Naguib Mahfouz which he tried to fill with his symbols, ideas and visions. These are also the domains which allowed him to easily jump through in limitless spaces of places, times, events and behaviors of the characters without restrictions of fact and fiction, and their boundaries; it allowed him to roam freely between them without smashing the boundaries between the real and imagined worlds.
