المستخلص: تؤدي الصفات الموضعية والموقعية دورا بارزا في صيرورة المدينة ونشأتها ومن ثم تطورها ونموها وبالتالي في بنائها الوظيفي خاصة إذا ما حصل تفاعل وترتيب لهذه الصفات الطبيعية مع تلك البشرية، إذ أن هناك علاقة قائمة بين الصفات الطبيعية لموضع المدينة وبين حجمها وشكلها وكيفية توزيع أقاليمها الوظيفية إلى جانب وجود علاقة قائمة بين الموقع والوظائف التي تقدمها المدينة، ولما عليه موضع مدينة الحلة من صفات-في غالبيتها - إيجابية وموقعها من إمكانات اقتصادية عالية وصلات مباشرة فقد ساهمت وبشكل جلي في تشكيل وتوجيه أنماط التنمية الحضرية فيها مما منحها ثقلا حضريا في بعديه الوظيفي والمكاني ولكن في مواقع واتجاهات بعينها جاءت على حساب أخرى لها ثقلها المساحي من ارض المدينة ناجم عن ملائمة بعض الخصائص الموضعية فيها للتوسع العمراني وتمثيلها لمناطق محددة ومعوقة لهذا الاتساع وقاطعه لاستمرارية خطة المدينة. عليه وبسبب من انخفاض مستوى سطح الأرض في الجانب الشرقي وارتفاع مستوى المياه الجوفية فيه ووجود شريط البساتين كل ذلك جعل نصيبه من التنمية الحضرية محدود جدا ولا يتلاءم مع واقع المدينة النامي حضريا، في وقت استقطب الجانب الغربي من المدينة – لإيجابية صفاته الطبيعية - معظم الاستعمالات الحضرية والاستحواذ عليها مما اثر في صيغ النمو الحضري الحاصل في المدينة وبنائها الوظيفي ومن ثم على بنبتها المعمارية فقد جاءت بتشكيل مورفولوجي على هيأة نصف دائرة تقريبا.
