'Al-Shana'an' means hatred and enmity. The meaning extends also to include vilification, insulting and jeering. 'Al-Batr' means cutting off. Therefore, 'Al-Abtar' means the cut off from any kind of goodness. Allah the Almighty tells that he who hates the Prophet (PBUH) is the meanest and the cut off from any kind of goodness. The 'Aya' denotes several meanings as in the following: 1. That he who vilifies the Prophet (PBUH) is faithless because he is hurting Him. He is faithless because he is hurting Him and hurt equals faithlessness. 2. That he who hates and vilifies the Prophet (PBUH) will be killed. This meaning has been assured through evidences in the Holy Quraan, the Prophetic Tradition and in what the Ancestors have narrated. One of those evidences comes clear when the Prophet (PBUH) ordered to kill Ka'eb bin Al-Ashraf because he satirizes Him. 3. That Allah the Almighty will defend His Prophet (PBUH). Allah responded against the polytheists when they insulted the Prophet (PBUH) saying: " For he who hateth thee, he will be cut off (from future hope)" (Al-Kawsar - 3) 4. That the Prophet (PBUH) has granted by Allah the Almighty a very high position. 5. That he who vilifies the Prophet (PBUH) will be terminated by Allah the Almighty. As Allah is jealous for His Prophet, He will avenge for Him (PBUH). 6. That loving and glorifying the Prophet (PBUH) is a must because Islam as a whole is based on love and glorification. Thus, vilification and hatred are opposing It.
