المستخلص: The researcher discussed the meaning of the Great Sin and its definition according to different scholars. Then he discussed its retribution according to the Islamic creed. The researcher has then mentioned that Al-Khawarej (dissidents) believe that the great sinner (a committer of a great sin) is an atheist and that he will stay in Hell (Jahannam/ fire) forever. Whereas, Al-Mu'tazilah believe him to be in between; he is not a believer, nor he is an atheist and that he will stay in Hell (Jahannam/ fire) forever unless he has repented before death. On the other hand, " Al-Murjia'a" believe that in spite of his great sinner, he still has a perfect Faith in this worldly life - this is because they separate deed from Faith - and that he will not enter Jahannam (Fire) because he is faithful. Finally, the researcher explained the Sunnis' belief regarding the great sinner (a committer of a great sin) as the following: He is a 'Faseq' (debaucher) Muslim. His sin didn't drive him out of Islam; at the same time he has not a perfect and a complete Faith. His predestination in the Hereafter is according to Allah only. If He, Almighty, wants to torture him, He will be absolutely Just. Or may He forgive him being the Most Merciful. And that if he goes to 'fire' (Hell), he will not stay there forever. Rather, he will be in 'Jannah' (Paradise) sooner or later when his punishment ends.
