المستخلص: تلقت الامة صحيح البخاري وصحيح مسلم بالقبول؛ وقد التزما ألا يخرجا في كتابيهما غير الأحاديث الصحيحة، ثم اختلفت العلماء بأحق الكتب تقديماً بعدهما؛ وذلك لأن أصحاب السنن لم يلتزموا إخراج الصحيح وحده، فجاء هذا البحث-على وجازته-ليدرس الخلاف في الاولي بالتقديم ويحكم فيه بناء على ما تميز به كل واحد منها عن الآخر، وما اشترطه أصحابه، وما قيل فيها قديماً وحديثاً، وأوقف على خمسة أسباب لتقديم سنن أبي دواد، وثمانية أسباب لتقديم سنن الترمذي، وأربعة أسباب لتقديم سنن النسائي، كما أن البحث أفاد خمس نتائج، حيث عرف بمكانة الكتب الثلاثة، وكشف عن شروط الأئمة في كتبهم، ومدي قوتها، وأثبت أن كلا من الكتب الثلاثة مقدم باعتبارات على غيره؛ وترجح من ذلك تقديم سنن النسائي ثم سنن أبي داود ثم سنن الترمذي.

The Islamic nation has received and accepted Sahih Al- Bukhari and Sahih Muslim because the two authors have adhered strictly to taking account of only authentic hadiths in their books. Later on, hadith scholars have argued about which one of the Six Hadith Books (Al-Kutub Al-Sittah) is more authentic after the Two Sahihs. This is because the authors of Sunan (Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, and Al- Nasaa’i) have not adhered strictly to include authentic hadiths only. The present work is based on this fact and attempts to study the difference in favouring one over the other according to the features of each one of them, what conditions they have made, and what has been said about these hadith books in the past and at present. Based on the features of the three Sunan Books, the present paper gives five reasons for favouring the Sunan of Abu Dawood, eight reasons for favouring the Sunan of Al-Tirmidhi, and four reasons for favouring the Sunan of Al-Nasaa'i. The judgement is based on the features of each of the three books, their stipulation, and is also based on the old and new opinions of scholars on these three books. The paper also evaluates the features of each book, the conditi ons of each hadith scholar, and their points of strength. It has been concluded that each one has its own merits. However, the Sunan of Abu Dawood comes first, followed by the Sunan of Al-Tirmidhi.
