المستخلص: The importance of infrastructure projects stems from the interdependent relation between development and the level of existing infrastructure. Many economic activities - and even the state's defense and security functions - depend on a strong infrastructure. Lack of sufficient or adequate transport, for example, means natural protection against the entry of products of each African country into the markets of the other countries, resulting in increased production costs and reduced competitiveness. Similarly, poor means of communication and lack of timely information affect the speed and efficiency of decision-making on exchanges and interaction among member states in the integration process. Therefore, the goal of the African countries to achieve integration requires hard work in the field of infrastructure, to allow dealing with Africa as one large market and not as fragmented and separate markets. African leaders have committed in Agenda 2063 to mobilizing financial resources to implement major projects in transport, energy and ICT in order to speed up action to connect the continent through modern and competitive infrastructure. These efforts and commitments have resulted in a relative boom in infrastructure on the continent compared to what it was in the past. However, there are major challenges most of them are tied to weak national ownership, finance, technical capacity and institutional arrangements. This article seeks to explain the reality of the infrastructure in Africa and the reasons for its interest, as well as review the most important efforts and infrastructure projects underway in Africa and their potential impact on the development efforts in the countries of the continent under the existing incentives and challenges inherent in these projects.
