|a هدفت الدراسة الي تعرف الاتجاهات نحو طلب المساعدة من الأخصائي الاجتماعي المدرسي، وعلاقتها بالمتغيرات السكانية والاجتماعية، ومصادر الدعم الاجتماعي، وسمات الاخصائي الاجتماعي، والضغوط الحياتية. أجريت الدراسة على 276 طالب/ة من مرحلة الثانوية العامة في الكويت. تم بناء وتقنين مقاييس الاتجاهات نحو طلب المساعدة، ومصادر الدعم الاجتماعي، وسمات الأخصائي الاجتماعي، والضغوط الحياتية. بينت النتائج أن لدى طلبة الثانوية العامة اتجاهات محايدة نحو طلب المساعدة، ولدي طلبة الصف العاشر اتجاهات سلبية. ويلجأ الطلبة إلى شخص يثقون به كمصدر للدعم الاجتماعي لمواجهة المشكلات المالية والأسرية، وإلى الأخصائي الاجتماعي لمواجهة المشكلات الدراسية والشخصية والعاطفية. ولكن، يميل الطلبة إلى اللجوء للمصادر الرسمية وغير الرسمية لمواجهة المشكات، ولديهم على الأقل 3 مصادر للدعم الاجتماعي. ويري الطلبة أن الاخصائي الاجتماعي يتمتع بسمات مهنية وشخصية بدرجات قليلة، وأن أفضل سماته هي سهولة الوصول إليه. وأن الطلبة يواجهون ضغوطا حياتية بدرجة متوسطة، وأن أكثر الضغوط شدة هي التي تتعلق بالدراسة. وبينت النتائج أن المرحلة الدراسية وسمات الأخصائي الاجتماعي كسهولة الوصول إليه والصدق والإخلاص في العمل والضغوط الحياتية التي تتعلق بالدراسة وصعوبة الحصول على المال وتغيير الروتين اليومي يمكن التنبؤ بارتباطها بالاتجاهات نحو طلب المساعدة. كما قدمت الدراسة عددا من التوصيات والمقترحات لتحسين أداء الاخصائي الاجتماعي المدرسي، وتطوير مهنة الخدمة الاجتماعية المدرسية.

|b The study aimed to identify the attitudes toward seeking help from the school social worker and its relationship to social and demographic variables, sources of social support, social worker attributes, and life stressors. The study was conducted on 276 male and female students in high Schools in Kuwait. Four scales were built and tested by the research including the Scale of Attitudes Toward Seeking Help from School Social Worker, the Sources of Social Support Scale, the Social Worker Attributes Scale, and the Life Stressors Scale. The results showed that high school students had neutral attitudes towards seeking help, and the tenth grade students had negative attitudes. The students turn to someone they trusted as a source of social support to cope with the financial and family problems, and turn to the social worker to solve the academic, personal and emotional problems. However, students tend to seek the formal and informal sources to cope with the problems and they had at least three sources of social support. Students believed that the social worker had a few degree of a professional and personal characteristics and that the best attributes were easy to communicate with them. Students also had a moderate degree of life stressors, and the extreme stressor was related to their study. The results showed that the grade, characteristics of the social worker, and life stressors related to the study, the difficulty of obtaining money and changing the daily routine could predict the attitudes of help seeking. The study made recommendations and suggestions to enhance the performance of the school social workers and develop the career of social work.
