|b This study aims to explain the factors affecting donor agencies’ funding of Social and Humanitarian Research in Saudi Arabia through corporate social responsibility programs and propose a practical mechanism for procuring such funding. The study uses the descriptive approach and a sample of (93) university academic staff members were selected, representing most social sciences disciplines. Interviews were also conducted with researchers and social research administrators at universities and research centers to obtain their views on the study questions. Results of the study show that the major factors affecting donor agencies funding include the absence of strategic planning and policies for research development, and the lack of effective communication channels with donor agencies. This is beside the complicated procedures for obtaining funds and the concentration of donor agencies funding on the research projects that serve their own interests due to the lack of awareness of their responsibility in this respect according to the corporate social responsibility rules. The study came out with a number of recommendations and a proposed mechanism for obtaining funding of research from the private sector.
