المستخلص: There is no doubt that Facebook has entirely revolutionized the way people interact. However, criminals are finding new ways to utilize Facebook’s Big Data to commit cyber-crimes. Facebook alone collects more than 500 terabytes of information every day. The main objective of this study is to discover the relationship between cybercrimes in Oman and victims data in Facebook. In light of the reality about these crimes, this study asked the following questions: Do you think there is a relationship between cyber-crimes in Oman and Facebook users’ information? What are the ways that the criminals use Facebook’s Big Data to commit cyber-crimes? Are Omani Facebook users concerned about their privacy? How Omani Facebook users save their privacy in Facebook? To address these questions, data from Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) about cyber-crimes have been analysed, besides, interviews with 30 users who used Facebook regularly were conducted. The findings showed that 70% of participants associated cyber-crimes in Oman with Facebook users’ personal information. Moreover, more than 66% of the participants appeared concerned about their privacy in Facebook, however; only 33% of them change their privacy settings in Facebook. Further research is needed to understand the root cause of these crimes in order to predict the future crime pattern.
