The role of knowledge application behavior is examined as mediator in these relationships. The research hypotheses were tested using a self-report data gathered from 139 randomly selected employees from the Egyptian banking sector. It was found that the stronger the employees’ belief of being obligated to in-role and high performance the higher is their personal initiative. Interestingly, employees’ perception of their employer’s obligation to them was not found to significantly impact personal initiative.
