The study aimed at reading a dissertation on the issue of Hajj in the French colonial politics in Algeria from 1894 to 1962. The study dealt with the French policy towards the Islamic religion and its institutions in Algeria, as well as the administrative and legal framework for Hajj. Moreover, it addressed the official missions to monitor the pilgrims and presenting reports on everything that happens during the Hajj. The study also referred to the diary of the pilgrim on board of the ship, and pilgrimage during the First and Second World War. It mentioned the role of the French orientalists in crystallizing a French Islamic policy in Algeria. The study concluded that the history of the religious and spiritual life phenomenon, during the colonial period and analysis it in an objective analysis in all respects, faced a range of difficulties and needs to many approaches and not limited to the retrieval of archival material. The issue of pilgrimage occupied a privileged position in the policy of the colonial empires and the growing European interest in the Islamic world and the depth of its study and this interest is still prominent in the contemporary stage through research, studies and conferences. هدفت الدراسة إلى قراءة أطروحة عن مسألة الحج في السياسية الاستعمارية الفرنسية بالجزائر من 1894 إلى 1962. وتناولت الدراسة السياسة الفرنسية تجاه الدين الإسلامي ومؤسساته بالجزائر. والإطار الإداري والقانوني لفريضة الحج. والبعثات الرسمية لمراقبة الحجاج وتقديم التقارير عن كل ما يحدث أثناء الحج. كما تطرقت الدراسة إلى يوميات الحاج على ظهر السفينة. والحج زمن الحربين العالميتين. وذكرت دور المستشرقين الفرنسيين في بلورة سياسة إسلامية فرنسية في الجزائر. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن التأريخ للظاهرة الدينية والحياة الروحية أثناء الفترة الاستعمارية وتحليلها تحليلا موضوعيا من جميع النواحي تواجهه مجموعة من الصعوبات ويحتاج الأمر لمناهج عديدة ولا يقتصر على استرجاع المادة الأرشيفية. وأن مسألة الحج احتلت مكانة متميزة في سياسة الإمبراطوريات الاستعمارية وتزايد الاهتمام الأوربي بالعالم الإسلامي والتعمق في دراسته ومازال هذا الاهتمام بارز في المرحلة المعاصر من خلال الأبحاث والدراسات والمؤتمرات. كُتب هذا المستخلص من قِبل دار المنظومة 2018
