المستخلص: Among the most salient transformations that have affected the handicap studies, the way of dealing with the handicap as a situation. It means that it goes beyond the individual as a handicapped person to encompass all his environment in its material, human and familial dimensions. The family that has a person in handicapped situation is a family that is, as a whole, in a situation of handicap. Therefore, it is very probable that the situation of handicap of one family member might represent an obstacle in the life of other family members and a hindrance for their life quality. That is why this category of families need support as psychosocial strategy, along with its economic, political and civic dimensions. On this basis, we have tried, in this article, to shed light on the concept of family support in its psychosocial dimension, and define some operational steps that the professionals might be interested in.
