المستخلص: Dans cet article, l’objectif est de montrer en quoi les études sur les normes psycholinguistiques sont utiles pour les études sur le lexique mental. Nous nous focalisons sur l’accès au lexique mental en production verbale et sur les normes psycholinguistiques qui ont été collectées à partir d’images correspondant à des dessins ou à des photographies d’objets ou de visages et les noms correspondants. Après un bref recensement des normes disponibles dans la littérature pour ce type de stimuli, nous décrivons les principales mesures recueillies à partir soit des images de dessins ou de photographies d’objets (e.g., accord nom-image, complexité visuelle, accord sur l’image), soit de leurs labels, c’est-à-dire les noms des objets (e.g, âge d’acquisition, imageabilité, familiarité conceptuelle). Nous illustrons ensuite comment les normes collectées sont utiles aux plans empirique et théorique aux chercheurs qui étudient le traitement lexical adulte (en dénomination ou en lecture). Nous abordons enfin la question de la validité des normes en nous appuyant sur les normes subjectives d’âge d’acquisition.

In this paper, the goal is to explain the reason why studies on psycholinguistic norms are useful to achieve a better understanding of the mechanisms underpinning access to the mental lexicon. We will focus on lexical access in the verbal production of words and on psycholinguistic norms that have been collected from pictures corresponding to drawings or to photographs of objects. After a brief description of norms that are available in the literature for this kind of stimuli, we will describe the main measures that are collected either from pictures of drawings or from photographs of objects (e.g., name agreement, image agreement, visual complexity), or from their names (e.g., age of acquisition, imageability, conceptual familiarity). We will then show how the collected norms are useful at both theoretical and empirical levels to researchers who investigate lexical processing in adults (in naming or in reading). We will then go on presenting two issues about the norms: the reliability and validity issues. The validity issue will be examined in the light of age of acquisition. Finally, we will sketch several avenues for future studies on psycholinguistic norms.

من خلال هذا المقال، سنبين كيفية الاستفادة من الدراسات الخاصة بالمعايير النفسية اللسانية في فهم آليات الوصول إلى المعجم الذهني، وسنركز اهتمامنا على الوصول إلى المعجم عند الإنتاج اللفظي، وعلى المعاير النفسية اللسانية، التي تم جمعها من خلال الصور المعروضة عن طريق الرسوم أو الصور الفوتوغرافية للأشياء أو الوجوه أو الأسماء المناسبة لها، سنقدم، بعد جرد سريع للمعايير المتوفرة لهذا النوع من المنبهات، وصفا للمقاييس الأساسية المستقاة سواء من الصور المرسومة أو من الصور الفوتوغرافية للأشياء (توافق الاسم-الصورة، التعقيد البصري، الاتفاق على الصورة)، أو على مسمياتها؛ أو بمعنى آخر أسماء الأشياء (مثل: سن الاكتساب، قابلية التصوير، الألفة المفهومية). بعد ذلك، سنجسد كيف يمكن لهذه المعطيات الملتقطة أن تساعد الباحثين على المستويين التطبيقي والنظري في دراسة المعالجة المعجمية لدى الراشد (في التسمية أو في القراءة(، وذلك بالاعتماد على الدراسات المعيارية، سنعوض في الأخر مسألة صدق المعاير وذلك بالاعتماد على المعاير الذاتية لسن الاكتساب. وسننهي مقالنا هذا باقتراح بعض الآفاق للبحوث المستقبلية حول المعاير النفسية اللسانية.
