تناول هذا البحث الموجات الحارة الرطبة في محطة البصرة، حيث تجسدت أهداف هذه الدراسة في الكشف عن التكرارات الزمانية لهذه الموجات ومقدار تباينها بين أشهر الصيف وسنوات الدراسة، ولتحقيق ذلك تم اعتماد البيانات اليومية للرطوبة النسبية ودرجات الحرارة، حيث أشترط لحدوث الموجات ارتفاع الرطوبة النسبية عن معدلها الشهري بمقدار (7) درجات فأكثر إلى جانب درجة حرارة أكبر أو تساوي معدلها الشهري مع شرط استمرار هذه الحالة ليومين متتاليين كحد أدنى، وقد جاءت النتائج تشير إلى تعرض محطة البصرة خلال مدة الدراسة (1992- 2013) لـ (21) موجة جاء تكرارها بواقع (5) موجات لشهر (حزيران) و(7) موجات لشهر (تموز) و(9) موجات لشهر (اب)، أما تكرارها السنوي فقد جاء متذبذبا من سنة إلى أخرى، حيث شهدت المحطة حدوث (4) موجات في عام (2010)، و(3) موجات في كل من عامي (2000، 2001)، وموجتين في كل من الأعوام (1998، 1999، 2006)، وموجة واحدة فقط في كل من الأعوام (1993، 1996، 1997، 2005، 2007)، أما السنوات الأخرى فلم تسجل حدوث موجات في هذه المحطة، وقد تناول هذا البحث أيضاً الموجة الحارة الرطبة التي تعرضت لها محطة البصرة بتأريخ (5- 10) اب من عام (2001) ولغرض الكشف عن المنظومات الضغطية المسؤولة عن حدوث هذه الموجة فقد تم تحليل خرائط الطقس للمستويات الضغطية (1000، 850، 500) مليبار للرصدة (12) GMTوالتي تم استحصالها من الموقع الإلكتروني (www.vortex.plymouth.edu).
