يتناول البحث دراسة السياسة الزراعية في محافظة الوادي الجديد من خلال رصد التغيرات التي طرأت على نمو المساحة المنزرعة خلال الخمسين سنة الأخيرة، وكذلك تسليط الضوء على التركيب المحصولي ومدى ملاءمته للظروف الجغرافية بمنطقة الدراسة، ثم الوقوف على أهمية الإنتاج الحيواني المكمل للإنتاج الزراعي، أضف إلى ذلك معرفة التوزيع الجغرافي لأنماط الاستغلال الزراعي، وستركز الدراسة أيضا علي هيكل التركيب المحصولي طبقا للمقننات المائية وبعدها يتم إلقاء الضوء على استغلال فائض المنتجات الزراعية وإمكانات إقامة بعض المشروعات الصناعية إلى جانب ذلك دراسة عائد الفدان الاقتصادي من المحاصيل الزراعية، فأهم أهداف السياسة الزراعية زيادة العائد من الدخل الزراعي لتختتم الدراسة في النهابة بمشكلات الإنتاج الزراعي والرؤية المستقبلية للسياسة الزراعية في الوادي الجديد.
Agricultural policy is an important resource for the achievement of economic development in the New Valley Governorate. First of all, it seeks to satisfy the population's food crop needs. Second, it seeks to increase agricultural production and income. In order to achieve food safety and promote the agricultural sector in the governorate, a well-planned agricultural policy should be implemented, and that plan should take into consideration the improvement of the quality of agricultural production and the diversification of the crop structure in such a way as to be adapted for the environmental conditions prevalent in the region under study. This can be done through investigating the changes in the area of cultivated land during the last fifty years, shedding light on crop structure and the extent to which it is adapted for the geographical conditions in the region under study, identifying the importance of animal production supplementary to agricultural production to increase income from agricultural revenues, and recognizing the geographical distribution of agricultural utilization patterns. The study will also focus on crop structure according to water rations. Then it will shed light on the exploitation of the surplus of agricultural products, and the possibility of setting up some industrial projects to create some sort of economic integration. In addition, it will investigate the economic agricultural crop return per feddan. Finally, the study will conclude with the problems of agricultural production and the future vision of the agricultural policy in the New Valley.
