حاول "ربعي المدهون" أن يعيد قراءة المشهد الفلسطيني اليوم في ظل التحولات والتطورات البنيوية والفكرية والاجتماعية والسياسية، التي انبثقت من الصراع العربي/الإسرائيلي منذ أزيد من ستين سنة خلت. وهو إذ يقدم طرحا جريئا في مشروعه الروائي، الذي مفاده تغليب المنطق الحواري، وتجاوز الرؤى الإيديولوجية الضيقة من الطرفين، يشدد في الوقت نفسه على القراءة النقدية المتحررة من قيود القومية والتصور الطهراني للهويات والتواريخ والمجتمعات الحديثة. يعود المدهون إلى تاريخ النكبة 1948، ويناقش السرديات العربية واليهودية المتناقضة في ما بينها، ويطرح الأسئلة المحرجة التي لم تطرح للنقاش من قبل رابطا بين تاريخ النكبة وتاريخ الهولوكوست، وبين مصائر الفلسطينين ومصائر اليهود كشرط ضروري لفهم تاريخ الصراع بين الشعبين. وخطوة أولية لبناء هوية هجينة بديلة تترجم صور التقارب والتفاهم والتضايف، وإقامة دولة ديمقراطية حقيقية يسودها الأمن والسلام والتعايش، وتحكمها الروح الإنسانية النبيلة، والاعتراف بالحق الراسخ لمطلب "عودة اللاجئين.
R. El Madhoun tried to reread the Palastinian scene today under the structural, intellectual, social and transformations and evolutions which emerged from the Arab Israeli struggle sixty years ago. the writer suggests a daring proposal in his novel where he focuses on the logic of conversation and the bypassing of the narrow ideological visions from both sides. At the same time, he stresses on a critical reading from the nationalistic and the "purified" conception of identities, history and modern societies. El Madhoun goes back to the history of the Naqba in 1948 to discuss the Arab and Jewish paradoxical narratives while asking embarrassing questions which have never been tackled before linking the history of Naqba and the Holocaust to the destiny of the Palastinians and the Jews as a crucial condition for the understanding of the struggle between the two people. It is also a first step to build an alternative mixed identity as a means of bridging the gap of mutual understanding and the establishment of a true democratic country full of security, peace and cooperation while governed by the noble human spirit and the acknowledgment of the fundamental right of the return of the refugees.
