المستخلص: The aim of the present article is addressing the problem of drug abuse, drug dependence, and their behavioral, social and economical consequences, whereas it reviewed the most effective factors that led and contributed to the increasing prevalence of drugs among all sectors of the society, specially the scholastic sector. The article also refers to the concept of prevention with its three levels; and to the most important preventive programs that can be based on when putting a preventive plan from drug abuse and dependence. Finally the article presents a proposal for an educational preventive program in schools.
