المستخلص: The Palestinian-Israeli talks have been suffering from a genuine dilemma. As previous studies looked at the issue to assess the outcomes of the experience, it was found that the conflict solution approach should be replaced by conflict management to put an end to the negotiation failure. The new method is said to facilitate bringing in shifts of the attitudes adopted by the disputants against each other, in a way that affects the nature of the conflict. That would eventually lead to a reasonable solution. On the other hand, the present study explores the possible resulting repercussions, checking whether the required changes in the mutual relations can actually remove the barriers to the settlement process or push for a negative freeze. Both approaches are analyzed, focusing on the impact of the management method on the nature and development of the dispute, whether they facilitate a negotiation-based settlement. It is found that the latter concentrates on the external side, but not the essence, of the dispute. Moreover, the results seem to work in favour of only one party’s targets and demands. In conclusion, it is not capable of ending the blockage of the Palestinian-Israeli talks, but consolidates the deadlock.
