المستخلص: مع أن الشعر ناتج عن الإحساس والعاطفة الإنسانية إلا أنه في الوقت نفسه فن في خدمة الفكرة الإنسانية والشاعر يستعين به ساعياً إلى انتقال ما في ذهنه وفكرته إلى المخاطب. إن دراسة فاحصة عن شعر عبد الوهاب البياتي العراقي (1999م-1926م) وأحمد شاملو الإيراني (1925م-2000م) تبين أنهما يستخدمان الشعر أداة لبيان ما في المجتمع من آلام وآمال. فانطلاقاً من هذا الأمر، تحاول هذه المقالة دراسة مقارنة عن مفهوم الشعر في شعر الشاعرين مستخدماً المنهج الوصفي – التحليلي معتمداً على المدرسة الأمريكية في الأدب المقارن التي لا تعتبر الأخذ والعطاء كشرطين للمقارنة. إن بعض ما انطوت عليه الدراسة من نتائج تبين أن الشاعرين يؤكدان على دور الشعر في بيان آلام المجتمع معتبرين الشعراء كالشهداء الذين استشهدوا في سبيل القيم الإنسانية السامية.

If we have a view, however little, to cultural, literary, and historical relations between the two friend countries of Iran and Iraq, we can find out that these they enjoy deep and profound relations. These two countries have had shared borders since previous times, and in recent years, have faced with similar social events and upheavals which have been represented in their literature. Accordingly, poets of the two countries have not kept silence and have positioned against the events in their countries. Abd al- Wahhab Al-Bayati and Ahmad Shamloo ushered this issue. Therefore, they hate and criticize the poetry which have not been originated from the people and is not at the service of the public. But there are similar and dissimilar points in their views to poetry. They consider poets as parallel to martyrs who have been slain in the path of accessing their ideals and desires. They believe that the role which a poet has in the future is bigger and better than the role he does now. Moreover, they apply love and poetry beside each other in their poetry. Bayati and Shamloo believe that poetry is history-making and world changing. The two poets, in addition to using the predictive style, use the expressive style as well. Shamloo uses the expressive style regarding his poetry, while Bayati, in spite of the fact that the expressive style is dominant over his poetry, uses the addressing and absence styles. In addition, Bayati and Shamloo resort to historical and mythical figures for transferring their thoughts as well as possible.
