المستخلص: This study aims to identify the concept of environmental pollution, and to explain its reality and gravity in Africa, and to provide ways to confront it. The study has employed the descriptive method through the analysis of literature and statistics that dealt with environmental pollution in the African continent. The study showed several results, the most important of which are that: pollution in Africa accounted for 5 to 20% of the world’s pollution in 2005, & may reach 50% of the world’s total emissions of pollutants by 2030, and 28% of diseases in Africa are associated with environmental hazards such as; diarrhea, respiratory infections and malaria, accounting for 60% of the effects of pollution of the environment harmful to health. A United Nations statistic in 2014 showed that 115 people die every hour in Africa because of water-related diseases & lack of interest in hygiene; which requires research for ways to address this serious issue. Likewise, the role of leaders and policy makers, scientists and educational institutions, companies, factories, agriculture and environmental organizations, and individuals all have to be looked into in order to reduce environmental pollution
