|b This research deals with the problem of narrative and knowledge in Abdullah El- arawy's work "Sheets" in an attempt to explore the elements of the plight of expression that confronted the author while creating this fictional work. To fulfill such target, the research imposes a methodological hypothesis: the text "sheets" disrupts the traditional plot in order to provide a dispersed narrative speech, which provokes the reader’s intellectual energies and mental abilities to restore the desired consistency to the narrative text that is based on the fragmentation and fissure structure. Therefore "Awraq" can be considered as ambiguous and confusing text with respect to the nature of the genre to which it can be part of and belongs to. Also, "Sheets" reveals a complicated text where different and heterogeneous textual forms interact and pollinate in terms of types, formats, and styles. For this reason, "Sheets" was attributed to different expressive forms regarding genre. This is due to the text aims to disturb the prevailing perception about the concept of writing fiction and its function. Idriss’s "Sheets" has been written at different and far times, and then he died and left it scattered lacking a system which determines the "meaning" and "significance". Shouaib and the narrator argue about "Awraq", each one attempts to give it a special meaning consistent with his ideological belife and dogmatic orientation. Both of them claim to be the most able to understand the "Awraq" and derive truth out of them, but they eventually offer only their own reading: their vision and reality derived from them and their development. Thus, there is a multitude of truth in readers’ mirrors.
