|b This paper focuses on short story discourse by a contemporary writer, Sherif Saleh, and his short stories collection, An Egg on the Shore, which has won Dubai Cultural Award. Aspiring to detect tracks that produced the poetics and aesthetics of this narrative discourse, the paper sheds light on the role of the stable and converting value and the redundancy in poetic production. Moreover, it delves into aesthetic outputs which trespass the literary genre without ignoring the fundamentals of short story genre. This research stems from the conviction that the poetics could transgress beyond the borders of a literary genre, and believes in the need to track the ways of its features and creation, in order to reveal its approach and literariness. Not to mention, the determination of poetic features and the revelation of their production contribute to an interpretive approach, protected by hermeneutics, which keeps processing according to clear procedures that flow from the form to the style. The research has also divulged the fundamentals of narrative discourse as well as the patterns of repetition, constancy of signification and characters and other narrative fundamentals and linguistic structures in the collection.
