المستخلص: يهدف البحث إلى دراسة ظاهرة الحزن في الشعر العربي الحديث، إذ يشكل الحزن ظاهرة لها حضورها وامتدادها في معظم التجارب الشعرية الحديثة. خلافا لما كان عليه الحال في الشعر العربي القديم. يميز البحث بين حزن الإنسان العادي وحزن الإنسان المبدع الذي يتسم بحساسية خاصة، ويستطيع أن يحول حزنه وآلامه إلى مادة إبداعية. يستعرض الباحث أبرز الآراء النقدية التي تحدثت عن أسباب وجود الحزن بوصفه ظاهرة في الشعر الحديث، بما فيها آراء الدكتور عز الدين إسماعيل الذي ربط بين حزن الشاعر العربي ونظيره الأوروبي، وربط بين الحزن وبعض الفنون النثرية التي دخلت إلى الثقافة العربية نتيجة الاتصال بالغرب. ويناقش البحث تلك الأفكار ليقف-من خلال استقراء النماذج الشعرية-على نوعين من أسباب الحزن، أولهما: أسباب ذاتية يتعرض لها الشاعر في حياته كالمرض أو الفقر أو الاغتراب. وثانيهما: أسباب موضوعية تتصل بالواقع العربي في العصر الحديث، وما فيه من أزمات ومشكلات سياسية أو اجتماعية أو اقتصادية. ينتقل البحث إلى دراسة الظاهرة المعنية عبر تجلياتها في القصائد الشعرية، فيتعرض لبعض قصائد صلاح عبد الصبور الذي لقب بالشاعر الحزين، ويتتبع دراسة الظاهرة في شعر بدر شاكر السياب وخليل حاوي وسواهما، مبينا مظاهر الحزن وتجلياته في العديد من القصائد، ومحاولا ربط تلك الظاهرة بأسبابها ومبرراتها سواء أكانت ذاتية أم موضوعية. يصل البحث إلى بعض النتائج منها شيوع ظاهرة الحزن وحضورها المؤثر في الشعر العربي الحديث. إذ نقع على مظاهر منها عند معظم الشعراء، وبنسب متفاوتة تختلف بين شاعر وآخر. ومنها وجود العديد من الأسباب والمبررات لبروز تلك الظاهرة في الشعر الحديث أيضا، وكثير من تلك الأسباب مرتبطة بالواقع العربي ومشكلاته التي عاصرها شعراء الحداثة وعانوا منها.

This paper aims at analyzing and studying the phenomenon of melancholy (sadness) in modern Arabic poetry since it is a feature that, unlike in ancient Arabic poetry, we can come across in most modern poetic writings. The paper distinguishes between the sadness of an ordinary man and that of a creative writer who shows a special sensitivity and can turn his sadness into something creative and can express it in his writings. In this study, the researcher refers to the most eminent critical points of view that dealt with the phenomenon of melancholy in modern Arabic poetry. For example, Dr. Ezzuddeen Ismail’s philosophy and opinion in this respect are referred to especially that he links and compares between Arab poets and their European counterparts concerning the subject of expressing sadness in their poetry. Likewise, Dr. Ismail refers to the affinity between sadness in Arabic poetry and some prose writings that became known in the Arab culture due to the connection with the Western culture. The paper discusses these points of view and concludes, through analysis of poetic examples, that there are two reasons for expressing sadness in poetry: First, personal reasons that the poet has due to an illness, a poverty, or expatriation. Second, national reasons that have to do with the status and condition of the Arab Nation in modern times especially the political, social, and economic trouble and crises. The research studies this phenomenon and how it is expressed in poetry. In this connection, the research studies and analyzes some poems by Salah Abdulsaboor since he is known as the “Sad Poet.” Moreover, the research follows up the same phenomenon – sadness- in the poetry written by Badr Shaker Al-Sayyab, Khalil Hawi and others. It refers to types of melancholy and how such a phenomenon is expressed in many poems. Likewise, the research studies the link between this phenomenon and the reason behind is whether they were personal or national. The research arrives to some findings such as that the phenomenon of melancholy is common in modern Arabic poetry where one can find that most poets employ it in their poems though they relatively differ concerning the rate of such a phenomenon in their poetry. The research refers to the existence of some reasons and justifications that led to the spread of this phenomenon in modern Arabic poetry especially those reasons that have to do with the Arab reality and troubles that modern poets suffered and experienced.
