المستخلص: This paper explains the deviation of this world organization from its avowed aims and objects resulting in its failure as an instrument of peace and justice. The paper is divided into four parts; Part one explains the duplicity, its manifestations and causes. Part two brings into focus those principles that can be helpful in harmonious international relations and can serve as universal values for international harmony. These principles are derived from Islamic Sharī‘ah. In part three the author refers to concrete examples of double standards applied by UN like the dispute of Palestine, Darfor and in the treatment of the prisoners of war. In part four the writer has analyzed the results of the double standards applied by UN and their dangerous consequences for harmony and peace of the world. In the end, the conclusions of the paper are followed by some proposals for improving the performance of the UN, so as to extend its benefits to all nations of the world. According to the writer, the teachings of Islam fully support the creation of an organization that works for the benefits of all humanity.
