المستخلص: Choosing names, nicknames and epithets is considered an important issue in the lives of Muslims especially when they adopt names for newborns, a business or other personal or public activity. The bottom-line of the argument presented here is: adopting names that exhibit a positive feeling and refraining from anything contrary has been a part of the Prophet's guidance. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has treated this issue comprehensively by recommending for his followers the choice of good names. The study aims at shedding light on the method of the Prophet (pbuh) in dealing with this important aspect of Muslims' lives. The study mainly consists of ad th that deals with names, nicknames and epithets and tries to show the admissible, the forbidden or the prohibited categories identified by the Prophet (pbuh).
