المستخلص: Al-Muwa a' by Im m M lik (d. 179 AH) is regarded among the most significant works of the second century hijra. This work has come to us through a number of narrations including those transmitted by Ya y b. Ya y al-Layth and Ab Mu 'ab al-Zuhr. The latter two assume a special importance in this transmission. The version of Ya y had been regarded as the most reliable and popular among scholars many of whom produced various commentaries on it in different periods of time. The narration by Ab Mu 'ab is the only available Madinite version of al-Muwa a' in complete form. Its significance lies in its traceability to the author (M lik) and in the additions made thereto, particularly to the version narrated by Ya y al-Layth. This version had been, until recent times, the most current among scholars especially those from North Africa. This paper highlight, the additions made by Ab Mu 'ab al- Zuhr to Ya y 's version of al-Muwa a' while introducing both the narrators and their contributions.
